BactEradiX Takes Part in Navile2Day 2026
On June 11, the BactEradiX UNIBO team joined Navile2Day 2026 at the University of Bologna’s Navile District, a key hub connecting academia, industry, and innovation.
The morning session tackled future research and innovation challenges, featuring insights from Polynt Group, STMicroelectronics, Ferrari, and Indena. Moderated by Maurizio Melis (Radio 24), the discussion highlighted how stronger links between public research and industry drive technological progress and real-world impact.
In the afternoon, the team presented a poster on the BactEradiX workflow, outlining the project’s objectives and multidisciplinary approach to tackling antimicrobial resistance within a One Health framework.
Through events like Navile2Day, BactEradiX reinforces the importance of collaboration on global challenges and remains open to contributing to the antimicrobial resistance field through joint initiatives, expertise sharing, and new synergies with the research and innovation community.

BactEradiX at the EIC Summit 2026
3rd -4th June 2026
IRTAL, represented by Dr. Agnese Tadi, participated in the EIC Summit 2026 in Brussels, organised by the European Innovation Council at Tour & Taxis.
The Summit gathered key actors from across the European innovation ecosystem to discuss deep tech, startup growth, innovation funding, and the valorisation of research results.
During the event, the BactEradiX representative attended workshops, plenary sessions, and networking activities, and had the opportunity to present the project to international stakeholders.
The Summit provided an important occasion to exchange ideas, build connections, and contribute to the discussion on the future of European innovation.

BactEradiX at the Frontiers of Chemistry with Nobel Laureate Omar Yaghi
On 28 May 2026, the BactEradiX team at Alma Mater Studiorum – Università di Bologna took part in a special scientific day dedicated to the importance of a global vision for research and to the new frontiers of chemistry. The programme combined the Master Lecture “A Global Mind for Discovery” with the workshop “Precision Chemistry for a Sustainable Planet,” featuring the 2025 Nobel Laureate in Chemistry, Prof. Omar Yaghi (University of California, Berkeley), alongside Prof. Laura Gagliardi (University of Chicago) and Prof. Hexiang Deng (Wuhan University).
Held in the Aula Magna of the Navile Campus, the workshop offered stimulating insights into reticular chemistry and Metal–Organic Frameworks (MOFs), highlighting their potential in areas such as drug delivery and sustainable resource management. For BactEradiX, the event was an opportunity to connect its research on advanced antimicrobial nanomaterials with a broader, global vision of chemistry as a driver of sustainability, health and equity worldwide.

BactEradiX at NOIMED 2026: Shedding Light on Early MRSA Biofilms
BactEradiX took part in the NOIMED event hosted by the Department of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Perugia, an initiative dedicated to showcasing and promoting biomedical research.
During the event, the team presented the poster “Titanium discs promote the development of early chloroquine-resistant MRSA biofilms,” providing new insights into the early phases of antimicrobial-resistant biofilm formation—an aspect that is crucial for understanding and tackling persistent infections.
This work is the result of a close collaboration between the consortium partners University of Perugia, IRTAL and Bioridis, highlighting the strength of interdisciplinary and cross-sector partnerships in advancing innovative research.

Andrea Tortori, representing Bioridis as a partner in the BactEradiX project, participated in Bio Europe, held in Vienna from November 3rd to 5th, 2025, the leading business-to-business conference for the biotechnology and pharma sectors. The event brought together thousands of life science professionals from across the world, providing unique opportunities for networking and partnership development. Andrea’s presence at Bio Europe allowed BactEradiX to share its project objectives with a diverse range of potential stakeholders and industry leaders. The conference offered an invaluable platform to explore new avenues for future collaboration, positioning BactEradiX at the forefront of innovative research and fostering connections that will contribute to the project’s impact.

BactEradiX’s contribution to European Researchers’ Night

Our BactEradiX partners UNIBO and UNIPR, took part in the European Researchers’ Night in Bologna on 26 September, inviting researchers of all ages to explore the fascinating world of bacteria. Through engaging and simple activities, BactEradiX researchers captivated both young and old, explaining the complex world of microbes in an accessible way.
They also presented how the BactEradiX project aims to defeat drug-resistant bacteria, offering hope for innovative solutions to antimicrobial resistance. The event was a wonderful opportunity to inspire curiosity and raise awareness of cutting-edge research impacting our health and future.

UNIPG and BIORIDIS present novel MRSA biofilm model at 53° Congresso della Società Italiana di Microbiologia

BactEradiX teams UNIPG and BIORIDIS recently presented a poster titled “Development of an in vitro model of DNase-resistant methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) biofilm reveals Z-DNA enrichment” at the 53rd Congresso della Società Italiana di Microbiologia, held from September 19 to 22, 2025, in the beautiful setting of the University of Catania. This research advances understanding of MRSA biofilm resistance mechanisms, contributing to the project’s goal of developing innovative antimicrobial nanomaterials targeting biofilm-associated infections.

BactEradiX partner Bengt Fadeel attends ChinaNano 2025 in Beijing

BactEradiX partner, Bengt Fadeel, had recently the privilege to attend the ChinaNano 2025 meeting held in Beijing, where he delivered a keynote lecture. On this occasion, his host, Prof. Yuliang Zhao, presented Bengt with a commemorative plaque. During his visit, Bengt also gave a seminar at the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), in Beijing.
This event represented a valuable opportunity for BactEradiX to foster scientific exchange and strengthen collaboration in the field of nanoscience and technology.

Prof. Cerulli presents BactEradiX project at ASSA IOSSMA 2025 in Bali

Professor Cerulli, representing the IRTAL team, recently presented the BactEradiX project during the 13th ASEAN Society for Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy (ASSA) Combined Meeting with the 5th Congress and the 13th Annual Meeting of the Indonesian Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy (IOSSMA), held in Bali, Indonesia. Prof. Cerulli was a speaker in a session focused on post-operative infections. The contribution of the BactEradiX project to this field has been acknowledged for its innovative approach in developing advanced nanomaterials to combat antimicrobial resistance and chronic infections. BactEradiX coordinator Paolo Blasi attended the Antimicrobial Resistance event organized by SIMeF https://www.simef.it/ and SIF https://www.sifweb.org in Milan.
Professor Blasi talked about the role of Public Engagement (PE) and how Citizen Science can help address antimicrobial resistance.
